New 975 Cases Include 25 Security Men
Srinagar: At least twenty people, including a teenager succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the fatality count due to the virus in the Union Territory to 1234.
According to the official sources, eleven more people fell victim to the deadly infection in Jammu division, while the virus claimed nine more lives in Kashmir Valley.
Regarding Jammu, they said, four victims belonged to the winter capital of J&K, three to Rajouri, two from Kishtwar and one each from Kathua and Doda districts.
As regarding Kashmir, they said, four of the victims were from Srinagar, and one each from Pulwama, Anantnag, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kupwara.
Among others, the deaths from Jammu include a 67-year-old woman from Morh Jammu, a 52-year-old from Peer Mitha, a 66-year-old retired Government official from Rajouri, who died in Jalandhar, a 61-year-old bakery shop owner who passed away at GMC Rajouri and a 62-year-old woman from Dessa who had been admitted in the GMC Doda for snake bite and tested positive for the virus during the treatment.
Among others the deaths from Valley include a 19-year-old of Hajin Shahgund Bandipora who died 24 days after he was admitted to SKIMS Soura having been diagnosed with AML with bilateral pneumonia, they said.
They said a 60-year-old man from Nunar Ganderbal, a 64-year-old man from Anantnag and a 75-year-old from Langate Kupwara also died at SKIMS Soura.
With these deaths, 1234 people have died due to virus and include 858 from Valley and 376 from Jammu.
New 975 Cases Include 25 Security Men
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir reported on Saturday 975 new cases of coronavirus, including 45 travelers, 25 security men and three minors, taking the number of people infected by the virus in the Union Territory to 78228.
While 591 fresh cases were reported from Jammu division, the remaining 385 were confirmed by officials from Kashmir valley.
Giving district wise details, officials said, Srinagar reported 150, Budgam 43, Baramulla 32, Pulwama 39, Anantnag 28, Bandipora 22, Kupwara 52, Ganderbal 11, Kulgam 5, Shopian 2, Jammu 403, Rajouri 29, Udhampur 39, Kathua 19, Doda 11, Samba 30, Poonch 32, Ramban 6, Reasi 13 and Kishtwar 9.
Moreover, officials said, 1399 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 848 from Jammu Division and 551 from Kashmir Valley.
