Srinagar: A civilian, who was critically injured in an explosion near encounter site in Sirhama area of Anantnag on Friday, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital here on Monday.
34-year-old Mohammad Yaseen Rather, who was undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital here from last three days, lost the battle with life in the wee hours of Monday, official sources told Kashmir Observer.
Rather is survived by his widow, two minor daughters aged 5 and 2 besides his father. His mother is said to have passed away a few years ago.
Rather was among four people who were injured when an explosive device went off near gunfight site in Sirhama village on Friday. Two local militants were killed in the gunfight during which a house was also damaged.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended in Sirhama when the news about Rather’s demise spread in his native village this morning.
Hundreds of people, witnesses said thronged Rather’s residence to have his last glimpse and attend his funeral prayers. Heart wrenching scenes were witnessed when Rather’s body was brought to his village for the last time. Amid tears and sobs, he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard.
