At a meeting chaired by senior leader Prof Abdul Gani Bhat the members said the substantial difference in the number of administrative units between Jammu and Srinagar was an effort to weaken the Muslim character of the state so as to get the political and administrative leverage.
Asserting that Hurriyat was not against the creation of new administrative units, Hurriyat said the way the interests of Kashmir valley have been overlooked, it only seems that it was done as a part of conspiracy, a statement issued by the separatist alliance said.
It added that the discrimination in the administrative units between two parts of the state would have far fetching dire consequences for Kashmiri people in the future.
