SRINAGAR: The Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) on creation of new administrative units held a crucial meet Friday a day ahead of the Cabinet meeting.
Sources said the first round of meet was held cordially, while the members were supposed to meet again late in the night.
The meeting was attended by all its members from both the coalition partners–Congress and National Conference and was chaired by deputy chief minister Tara Chand. The first round of the meeting commenced at 2 pm and lasted for 7:30 pm.
Ajay Sadhotra, National Conference senior leader and minister told a local news agency, that the meeting recorded threadbare discussions and deliberations vis-à-vis certain contentious issues but the opinions put forth by the members across the board were well taken by the chair.
The meeting was attended by all the members of the Committee including three ministers of National ConferenceMohammad Akbar Lone, Mir Saifullah and Ajay Sadhotra.
The second round of the meeting will start at 10 pm and it can last around 1 am, Sadhotra informed, adding that the deliberations are being held to give finishing touches to the report which is to be forwarded to the state cabinet scheduled to meet tomorrow.
The CSC is scheduled to submit its report before the cabinet meeting on Saturday. The report has become a bone of contention between NC and Congress even threatening the fate of the ruling alliance.
While the crisis was averted by the intervention of Congress high command, the chief minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that the final status will be clear only on Feb 1, when the cabinet meets.
