SRINAGAR: Accusing New Delhi of using film industry to justify, her military occupation of Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday said that Bollywood never portrayed the pain of Kashmir.
Most of the films made on Kashmir are used by India as a tool to justify its military occupation of Kashmir, a statement issued by the separatist grouping said while commenting on the ongoing Bollywood shooting in Srinagar.
Never has there been any film made which would have depicted the real pain, sufferings and miseries of people of Kashmir or addressed the aspirations of Kashmiris, it added.
The statement said that people of Kashmir have always proved hospitable and welcomed outsiders.
Nevertheless, the films made on Kashmir have always been used to spread negative propaganda against the people of Kashmir and tarnish their image, the statement added.
The statement said that India was using multi-pronged strategy to strengthen and justify its military occupation on Kashmir.
Unfortunately, Bollywood is helping and playing its part in all possible ways to realize this vicious objective, it said.
The statement said that though the Bollywood is known for highlighting social, political and other issues of society in India, in Kashmir its position changes completely.
In Kashmir, Bollywood also acts to safe guard the so-called national interests and acts as a tool of imperialism, the Hurriyat (G) alleged.
