Jammu- The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that a discretionary grant of Rs 80 lakh has been allocated to the Chief Minister for the fiscal year 2025-26 and Rs five lakh for each cabinet minister for the same period.
In response to the cut motion submitted by BJP MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta, the Government revealed these allocations. It was further disclosed that during the current financial year, Rs 50 lakh in discretionary grants have been allocated to the Chief Minister and Rs 2.5 lakh to each cabinet minister.
The discretionary grants are available to enable the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers to provide financial assistance to organizations and initiatives aimed at addressing specific needs and promoting public welfare.
The Chief Minister has the authority to issue recurring grants to institutions and individuals engaged in activities that, in his opinion, enhance public well-being. Cabinet ministers, on the other hand, may provide non-recurring grants to charitable organizations and individuals on similar grounds.
