Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ruled out any plans to waive electricity bills for households with terminally ill patients or those belonging to the fishermen community.
In response to a query by MLA Hilal Akbar Lone, the government informed the house that in its ongoing amnesty scheme, 275,081 domestic consumers have benefited from a 100% waiver on interest surcharges on outstanding electricity bills.
The minister incharge of the Power Development Department (PDD) said that under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category, households of domestic consumers would receive 200 units of electricity free of cost, as announced by the government recently.
The minister also clarified that there is no specific provision for terminally ill patients or the fishermen community. (KNO)
