
Kargil- Taekwondo star Shahnaz Parveen has been selected to represent India at the World University Games in Germany. Hailing from Sankoo, Kargil, Shahnaz has etched her name in history as the first female athlete from Ladakh to qualify for this prestigious global event for the second time.
Shahnaz is pursuing her post-graduation in B.P.Ed (1st year) at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, under the guidance of Head Coach Dr. Ashok Kumar.
Gulzar Hussain Munshi, President of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, lauded Shahnaz’s dedication and perseverance.
Munshi also expressed heartfelt appreciation to MDU and Coach Kumar for their continuous guidance and support in shaping Shahnaz into an international-level athlete.
Shahnaz has consistently been a trailblazer in Ladakh’s sports arena. She was awarded the State Award in Sports (UT Ladakh 2023) and has previously represented India at the World University Games in Chengdu, China. She also secured an impressive 8th place in the finals of the Group Women Under-30 category at the 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in Vietnam.
