Srinagar- A devastating fire broke out in Srinagar’s Hazratbal area on Wednesday morning, leaving four residential houses damaged. According to locals, the fire originated in one house and rapidly spread to three neighboring properties.
The Emergency and Fire Services Department promptly responded, working alongside locals and police to bring the blaze under control. An official from the department confirmed that two houses, owned by Mehraj Ahmed Shaksaz and Parvez Ahmed Bhat, sustained extensive damage, while two additional houses were partially affected.
“The swift action of our team, along with the support of the local community and police, helped contain the fire before it caused further destruction,” the official stated.
Officials said that a case has been registered to determine the cause of the fire, as investigations are ongoing.
In response to the incident, a team from the District Administration Srinagar, acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, visited the affected families to offer assistance. Immediate relief, including blankets and Rs 10,000 in interim financial aid from the District Red Cross Fund, was provided to each affected family.
“We are deeply sympathetic to the affected families for their loss of property and have taken swift measures to support them,” the District Administration team noted.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner directed concerned authorities to assess the damages thoroughly and prepare a detailed report to ensure structure-wise financial assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Efforts are underway to rehabilitate the families and provide them with the necessary support during this challenging time.
