Srinagar- In a distressing incident at the Geeta Jayanti Fair in Kurukshetra, Haryana, a Kashmiri cloth vendor was targeted and attacked by miscreants, sparking outrage. The assault, which highlights the serious issue of communal disharmony and intolerance, has been strongly condemned by politicians across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a silver lining to the unfortunate event, locals, reportedly from the Hindu community, intervened and rescued the vendor.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Monday condemned the thrashing of Kashmiri vendors at the Geeta Jayanti fair in Kurukshetra by a self-styled rightwing Hindutva vigilante group.
Party’s state Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar demanded swift and decisive action against those involved and concrete steps to put an end to such incidents. “This kind of violence and discrimination has no place in a civilized society and must be met with the full force of the law. We stand in solidarity with the victims and call for justice to be served,” he said.
Apni Party (JKAP) president Altaf Bukhari described the attack as shameful and called for immediate legal action against the perpetrators.
