Srinagar- The Government of India Tuesday revealed that five soldiers have lost their lives along the Indo-Pakistan border over the past three years.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, provided this information in a written statement, stating that four soldiers were killed in 2021, while one soldier lost his life in 2022 along the Line of Control.
He said that close and effective coordination between intelligence and security agencies at the central and state levels has been established to tackle militancy-related matters. The Multi-Agency Centre has been strengthened to function 24/7 for real-time intelligence sharing and coordination with other agencies and states.
He said special forces have been raised by states and union territories to handle militant incidents, supported by Central Armed Police Forces and the National Security Guard.
“The government has also adopted a multi-pronged approach to prevent infiltration along the border. This includes round-the-clock border domination, regular patrolling, anti-tunneling exercises, and strategic observation posts. Physical infrastructure, such as border fencing and floodlights, has been erected and maintained along the international border.”
He added that vulnerable border outposts are regularly reviewed and strengthened by deploying additional manpower, special surveillance equipment, and other force multipliers.
