A Mahindra Thar collided head-on with a tipper which was parked on the roadside in Tengpora on Thursday afternoon, resulting in on spot death to two persons and injuries to another one.
All the travellers in the car were identified as students of a particular school. The dead students have been identified as Hammad, of Lal Bazar, and Azeem of Sanat Nagar. Injured has been identified as Mohammad Eissa Ganie of Nowshera.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident. Speaking to Kashmir Observer SSP Traffic Srinagar Muzaffar Ahmad Shah termed the incident unfortunate. He called on parents not to give their vehicles to minor children.
“It is sad that we have lost two young boys in the incident. The onus lies on the parents who let their minor children drive cars and scooties when they are not allowed to do it as per law” Shah said.
Shah further said that the school and tuition centers should stop minor children from coming to schools and tuition on their own vehicles.
“School children are minors and it is sad that school authorities do not stop children from driving their vehicles. We have time and again held interactions and programmes to educate children in schools, it is high time school authorities initiate action against these students.” He said.
