Srinagar- The seven-day tour of media delegation from Hyderabad, organized by Press Information Bureau Hyderabad, concluded today with a comprehensive visit to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) managed by Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) in Srinagar.
The ICCC, a cornerstone of Srinagar’s transition into a citizen-friendly smart city, aligns with India’s national vision of developing 100 smart cities across the country.
Welcoming the delegation, Shafqat Bashir, General Manager of the ICCC, conducted an interactive session to present the ongoing initiatives and advancements that SSCL has made in creating a responsive and efficient urban management system. Bashir highlighted the infrastructure that underpins these initiatives, particularly the extensive Optical Fiber Cable network that spans the city, enabling efficient monitoring, real-time data processing, and informed decision-making. He emphasized that SSCL’s focus on technology-driven urban solutions is making Srinagar a model of digital infrastructure and smart city operations.
In a significant stride toward promoting eco-friendly transport, SSCL has launched 100 electric buses, each monitored in real time via the ICCC to ensure optimized routes, reduced emissions, and enhanced public transport efficiency. Bashir shared that these buses are not only environmentally sustainable but also contribute to better urban mobility for residents and visitors alike.
During the session, Bashir informed the delegation that “820 of the planned 1052 surveillance cameras have already been installed at critical intersections across the city, greatly improving public safety and streamlining traffic management.” The integration of these surveillance systems allows SSCL to leverage real-time data, facilitating seamless coordination among multiple departments and enabling a quicker response to incidents and traffic bottlenecks.
The delegation was given an overview of how the ICCC forms an integral part of the national Smart City Mission, showcasing Srinagar as a benchmark for future city management. By integrating data across various sectors, the ICCC empowers the city with real-time insights, fostering inter-departmental collaboration and elevating the standard of living for citizens.
The visit marked a successful conclusion to the press delegation’s tour to Kashmir. The delegation expressed appreciation for the insights gained throughout the tour of the valley.
