Srinagar- A two-day review meeting of the Northern Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) commenced on Tuesday at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
Director General of BIS, Pramod Kumar Tiwari, IAS was the chief guest at the event.
The meeting, attended by senior officials and stakeholders, aimed to assess the regional office’s performance and discuss strategies for enhancing standardization and quality control in the region. The Director General emphasized the importance of adhering to global standards in product quality and safety, stressing its impact on trade and consumer protection.
Key issues addressed during the meeting included the implementation of new standards, certification process, and the role of BIS in promoting Make in India initiatives.
The meeting is expected to conclude tomorrow with a set of recommendations for improving the region’s standardization ecosystem.
This review meeting underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s quality infrastructure, aligning with global best practices, and driving economic growth through standardization.
