Ali Mustafa, a 16-year-old from Srinagar, Kashmir, is making waves in the world of meteorology. With a keen interest in weather patterns since childhood, he has carved a niche for himself as a promising young forecaster.
Under the moniker “Bengaluru Weatherman,” he has gained a following on Twitter where he shares weather predictions for the city.
“I began my journey in Bengaluru, where I spent a significant part of my life. It was during this time there that I developed a deep fascination with weather forecasting,” Ali told Kashmir Observer.
Despite his young age, he has already garnered both admiration and skepticism. While many in the local forecasting community have been supportive of his talent, there are also those who have met his enthusiasm with indifference or even hostility.
According to Ali, “While there were many naysayers, I found my friends in Labeeb Gulzar, Afnan and Sabir who are hidden gems of the weather forecasting community for me.”
Undeterred by the challenges, Ali continues to refine his skills and expand his knowledge. His story is an inspiration to many young people, demonstrating that with passion, dedication, and hard work, one can achieve remarkable things at a young age.
Ali is one of the new entrants in the emerging young freelance forecasters community that we have seen in Kashmir in the last few years.
Ali is still in school and attends DPS Srinagar. Yet, he’s not letting his young age come in the way of his passion.
“My long-term goal is to become a robotics engineer, a field I believe will complement my interest in weather forecasting,” Ali told Kashmir Observer.
