This Muharram Anantnag, also called Islamabad, the main town in South Kashmir has come alive with Hussaini banners and Sabeels.
There has been a growing trend of observing Muharram in Sunni dominated South Kashmir for the last several years.
Top Sunni cleric late Qazi Nisar Ahmad initiated the process along with Shia leader late Maulana Abbas Ansari way back in mid 80’s.
Now popular Sunni cleric Dr Sameer Sidiqui is leading the movement to demonstrate the love of Karbala martyrs among the people of the region.
