Srinagar- Ahead of the highly anticipated assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is considering strategic alliances and support for independent candidates to secure a majority and form the government in the erstwhile state.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, BJP state President Ravinder Raina, stated that the party plans to contest the elections independently but is open to collaborating with like-minded parties and supporting certain independent candidates. This approach aims to consolidate the BJP’s vote bank and ensure victory in key constituencies.
“There are some constituencies and areas where independents and like-minded people will be supported by the BJP so that the BJP’s vote bank could be utilized for ensuring the victory of that candidate. We want the BJP along with the like-minded candidates to win and we cross the 50 seat mark to form the government,” Raina said. Raina emphasized that the BJP’s primary goal is to achieve a majority in the assembly by surpassing the 50-seat threshold. He said that party’s election strategies will be tailored to maximize its chances of success, potentially leading to collaborations with independent candidates and like-minded political entities.
