Jammu- In a bid to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, the Traffic Police have announced the deployment of advanced surveillance technologies, including drones and CCTV cameras, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Jammu, Haseeb Mughal detailed the comprehensive security arrangements that will be in place for the upcoming yatra. He emphasized that the deployment of drones and CCTV surveillance is aimed at monitoring the movement of pilgrims and managing traffic more efficiently. These technologies will play a crucial role in mitigating any potential disruptions and ensuring a hassle-free journey for the pilgrims.
He said that drones will be strategically deployed along the Yatra route to provide real-time aerial surveillance. This will allow the authorities to monitor traffic conditions, detect any bottlenecks, and swiftly respond to emergencies. The high-resolution cameras mounted on the drones will offer a bird’s-eye view of the entire route, ensuring that any issues can be identified and addressed promptly.
He further added that CCTV cameras will be installed at critical points along the highway to keep a constant watch on the flow of vehicles and pilgrims. These cameras will be monitored round the clock from a centralized control room, enabling the police to track the movement of the Yatra convoy and ensure that traffic regulations are being adhered to. The footage will also assist in the investigation of any untoward incidents.
In addition to drones and CCTV cameras, other modern gadgets and technologies will be employed to enhance the security and efficiency of the Yatra. These include automated traffic management systems, GPS tracking for Yatra vehicles, and mobile communication units to facilitate real-time coordination among different security agencies, he said.
DIG Mughal highlighted the importance of coordination among various stakeholders, including the police, local administration, and other security agencies. Regular meetings and drills are being conducted to ensure that all personnel are well-prepared to handle the challenges associated with the Yatra.
Special emphasis is being placed on quick response mechanisms to deal with any emergencies, such as landslides or medical issues among the pilgrims.
The Traffic Police have also appealed to the public and the pilgrims to cooperate with the authorities by following traffic rules and adhering to the designated Yatra timings. Adequate signage and information points will be set up along the route to guide the pilgrims and provide necessary assistance.
Additionally, first aid and medical facilities will be available at various points to address any health concerns,he said.
