Srinagar- The much-anticipated two-story sanitary complex was thrown open to pilgrims at Dargah Hazratbal shrine, two months before the deadline on Saturday.
Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, the chairperson of the Muslim Waqf Board for Jammu & Kashmir, officially inaugurated the facility. Andrabi on the occasion praised the execution agency’s efforts to complete the project ahead of schedule and promised that pilgrims would never again experience any difficulty.
“As soon as I took over as Waqf chairwoman, the pilgrims began to demand that a sanitary facility be built at the site. We completed the job two months ahead of schedule, and for that I am thankful to Allah,” Andrabi told the media.
The pilgrims at the major Muslim shrine in the valley, housing the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), she claimed, were having difficulties due to a shortage of sanitary complex facilities.
“We’ll make sure these amenities are constructed at every shrine so there won’t be any issues for the hordes of pilgrims who visit them from across the valley. We are making every effort to meet the expectations of pilgrims, and will keep up this good work in the future,” she added.
She said Waqf will not stop working to improve the shrines and mosques under its supervision and it won’t stop until the problems pilgrims encounter are resolved.
“During the past 1.5 years, we have done everything we could. We continue to be dissatisfied. Considering that progress will cease whenever we are pleased,” the Waqf chairperson added.
