Srinagar- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday called the recent terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu’s Reasi district as an ‘assault on humanity’, promising to eradicate all vestiges of terrorists and their sympathizers from Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces have always had a high morale, according to LG Sinha, and that such cowardly acts won’t deter them from waging the continuing struggle against terrorism till its inevitable end.
Nine people lost their lives in the terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims to Shiv Khori Temple in Katra near Reasi on Sunday evening. Of the nine, four members of a family including a two-year-old boy died after the bus fell into a gorge following gunfire by terrorists.
People should have faith in security forces, the LG advised, since those responsible for the barbaric act that left nine innocent pilgrims dead would not go unpunished.
Sinha said the terrorists in Reasi committed a horrific crime against humanity that demoralized every member of the society as well as those in the art and literary fields.
“The attack triggered outrage everywhere, which I can better understand. But I assure people, using this platform, that they should have faith in our courageous security forces and the J&K police. All vestiges of terrorism and their supporters will be erased from J&K,” Sinha said, addressing a Folk Festival organized by J&K Art, Culture and Languages at SKICC here.
The security forces and J&K police, according to LG Sinha, are committed to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and they won’t rest till the threat is permanently eliminated from Jammu and Kashmir union territory.
