Srinagar- The mortal remains of a young man from Jammu’s Rajouri district have been repatriated from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, almost ten days after his death in a tragic road accident on May 31.
The family of the deceased claimed that Mohammad Kabir son of Muneer Hussain, a resident of Gadyog Khawas in the Rajouri district lost his life in a tragic road accident in KSA last month. Kabir had been employed as a driver in Saudi Arabia for a private company since 2014.
The family expressed their sincere appreciation to the Indian Mission in Saudi Arabia for its prompt action in facilitating the return of his dead remains.
“We express our gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs and the KSA government for enabling the retrieval of Kabir’s mortal remains. He was survived by his wife, two minor children, and an ailing elderly father. We also appreciate the J&K Students Association for bringing up the issue with MEA,” the deceased’s maternal uncle, Altaf Chkli, told Kashmir Observer over phone from Rajouri.
Notably, the J&K Students Association had sent a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs, government of India, urging them to facilitate the return of the mortal remains of the deceased to his home in Rajouri.
“J&K Students Association regrets to inform you with immense grief that a promising young individual, Mohammad Kabir (passport number N77793878) a resident of Gadyog area of Khawas block in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir has tragically passed away in a road accident. Unfortunately, Mr. Kabir was working as a driver in Saudi Arabia and met with a tragic accident,” reads the June 2 letter from JKSA to MEA.
The MEA officials, according to the deceased’s family, called them to get Kabir’s information, and arranged for his remains to be sent back to his hometown in Rajouri.
“Kabir, who had been employed in Saudi Arabia for the past 10 years, was the only provider for his family. We appeal to the government to grant his family an ex-gratia relief so they can live a dignified life hereafter,” Chkli said.
