Srinagar- Police on Saturday claimed to have solved a case of burglary by arresting a woman alleged to have carried out the offense. Stolen cash to the tune of Rs 23.46 lakhs was also recovered from the accused.
The arrest was made, following a complaint by one Parvaiz Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Khaliq Wani of Chinar Colony, Baghat Srinagar, claiming that some unidentified burglars broke into his home between May 25 and May 27 and stole money.
A formal case under relevant section of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at police station Sadder in this regard and investigation set into motion.
A police spokesman said during the course of investigation, technical evidence was thoroughly analyzed, leading to the arrest of the accused.
He identified the accused as Nusrat Nisar, wife of Nisar Ahmad Kuchay, a resident of Barsoo Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“Upon her disclosure, a stolen amount to the tune of Rs 23, 46, 000 was recovered from her house in Barsoo Awantipora,” he said, adding further investigation into the instant case is on.
