Srinagar- Two army soldiers received bullet wounds in an encounter in Ranji forest area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
A police officer said that two army soldiers sustained minor injuries during the initial exchange of fire.
Both are stable and are being treated in a hospital, the officer said.
“A contact was established between #terrorists and security forces in the early morning in Renji forest area of Aragam, #Bandipora,” Kashmir Zone Police said on X.
Similarly, Chinar Corps – Indian Army on their X handler wrote, “Based on specific intelligence by agencies regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched from 21 Apr onwards by IndianArmy and Jammu Kashmir Police in general area Mulkhyama Forest, Bandipore”.
“The area was cordoned & search conducted, resulting in a firefight in the early hours this morning. Operations in progress”.
Meanwhile, reliable sources said that helicopters have been pressed into service while more forces have been rushed to the spot to track down hiding terrorists.
“A massive search operation is still going on in the area to track down the terrorists,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bandipora, Lakshay Sharma said, adding that the details will be shared accordingly.
