New Delhi- Indian Railways has carried 41.16 crore passengers during 1st April – 21st April, 2024, an official said on Monday.
The official said that the Railways carried 3.38 crore passengers in last two days (20 & 21st April) and 13.69 crores passengers travelled in last 7 days (15th-21st April).
He further said that the Zonal Railways have been instructed to ensure the availability of drinking water at Railway stations.
“Record number of additional trains are being operated by Railways this year (9111 trips during summer season). Elaborate crowd control arrangements are made at all major and important railway stations. Senior officers are stationed at these stations to monitor all the activities to regulate the crowd in a systematic manner,” the official added.
“RPF personnel have been deputed at originating stations to ensure Queue system for entry in General Class coaches. Skilled RPF staff are deployed in CCTV Control Room to keep a close watch on the crowded areas and render real-time assistance to passengers. Government Railway Police (GRP) & Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff are deployed at foot-over bridges to regulate crowds smoothly to avoid stampede-like situations during the heavy rush period,” he said.
Additional help desks and counters are set up to help passengers with their inquiries, the officials said, adding that Railways is continuously making arrangements as per the demand.
