SRINAGAR- The J&K senior men’s cricket team is all set to begin its 2024 Ranji Trophy campaign against Himachal Pradesh on January 5 at the Hostel Ground in Jammu.
J&K will then face-off against Delhi at the same venue on January 12.
The J&K Cricket Association announced the team on December 30, with opener Shubham Khajuria set to lead the squad. Team India pacer Umran Malik has also returned to the team after suffering an injury in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Speedster Rasikh Salam, who was bought by IPL team Delhi Capitals in the 2024 auction, has been sidelined from the J&K squad due to an injury.
Left-arm spin all-rounder Abid Mushtaq, another IPL recruit from J&K this year, has made the 15-member team. Abid was bought by the Rajasthan Royals.
All-rounder Nasir Lone has earned his first call-up to the J&K senior team, while Waseem Bashir has been designated as the 16th man, net bowler.
J&K’s Ranji squad is pretty much the same that competed in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali. Even though the team fared poorly in both competitions, the JKCA selectors seem to have decided to stick to the same squad.
J&K Ranji Trophy Squad: Shubham Khajuria (Captain), Qamran Iqbal, Abhinav Puri, Vivrant Sharma, Abdul Samad, Shubham Singh Pundir, Fazil Rashid (wk), Musaif Aijaz, Abid Mushtaq, Sahil Lotra, Lone Nasir, Umran Malik, Umar Nazir, Auqib Nabi, Rohit Sharma.
