Srinagar- A social media campaign urging people to value punctuality, under the hashtag #BeOnTimeKashmir, has gained significant traction following a recent incident involving a former SMC corporator, Danish Bhat.
The hashtag started when Bhat accompanied his younger sister to a private clinic in Karan Nagar.
Despite having a pre-booked 1:00 PM appointment, the duo was met with an unexpected scenario — the clinic was locked, and a large number of patients with morning appointments stood outside in confusion.
Bhat took to Twitter, expressing his dismay, “Accompanied my younger sister to Dr. Rouf Ahmad’s clinic in Karan Nagar… Despite her pre-booked 1:00 PM appointment, we found the clinic locked, with numerous patients who also had morning appointments waiting outside.” Bhat tweeted.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer, Danish said that time in Kashmir is hardly cared for and we as a community need to come together to bring a positive change in our society.
The campaign received a positive response on the internet, with users rallying behind the cause. Raja Muneeb, another Twitter user, joined the conversation, stating,
“A much-needed movement. In Kashmir, the essence of time is mostly lost. People need to learn the value of time if they want to progress. Being late for appointments isn’t a sign of importance but that of ignorance.” Muneeb tweeted.
The #BeOnTimeKashmir hashtag is resonating with the Kashmiris sparking conversations about the cultural perception of time and the need for collective efforts to instill a greater sense of punctuality. As the campaign gains momentum, advocates hope it will foster a positive shift towards a more time-conscious and respectful society.
