Srinagar- Stating that 20-25 terrorists cannot terrorize the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday appealed to the society to come out in the open against those attempting to disrupt peace in Union Territory.
“The society has to collectively stand up against these numbered terrorists, anti-social and anti-peace elements. There is also need to isolate those people who are trying to create hurdles in this objective, and their information must be shared by people with our security forces,” Sinha said.
He was addressing a gathering at a function to mark ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ at Gurudwara, Bhagwati Nagar here on Tuesday.
“When I look at the transformation Jammu and Kashmir has gone through, and the sporadic incidents that take place with the aim of creating disturbance in peace and prosperity of the society, I am reminded of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj Jee’s accomplishments. For peace and transitional development, he taught the lesson of sacrifice to the entire Bharat,” he added.
In an apparent reference to recent attack in Poonch that left four soldiers dead, the LG said that if two or four people come to a village with a population of 2000 and try to disturb peace there, try to disturb development of Jammu and Kashmir, and prosperity of people, then the blood of those 2000 people should boil in form of lava.
“Everyone should only raise one voice that it is enough now. 20-25 terrorists can’t scare the entire population of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Hitting out at his critics for questioning the changes in Jammu and Kashmir after August 2019, Sinha said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Anand Marriage Act has been implemented in the Union Territory which would not have become a reality if Article 370 had been in place.
The LG also reiterated the commitment of his administration to promote Punjabi language in education.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Anand Marriage Act has been implemented in Jammu Kashmir. Some people say what has changed in Jammu Kashmir. If Article 370 had remained in Jammu Kashmir, Anand Marriage Act would not have become a reality,” Sinha said.
He said that his administration is restoring the shrine of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji in Reasi so that the devotees and tourists from across the country will be able to visit the spiritual place.
Earlier, he unveiled a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, disciple of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and attended a ‘Shabad Kirtan’
“The four Sahibzades of Guruji were the embodiment of courage, valour and sacrifice. The life, ideals and bravery of Sahibzades is unparalleled in history,” the LG said.
“Our great Gurus ensured society is free from all discrimination, fear and insecurity. The martyrdom day of Sahibzades is an occasion to remember the contribution of our revered Sikh Gurus to nation and we must strive relentlessly towards achieving the ideals espoused by them,” he said.
Sinha said that the Sikh Gurus worked with the common commitment to protect the integrity and sovereignty of India and promoted social justice, social harmony and empowerment of all sections of society.
He further added that it was a matter of great pride for all that the entire society has come together to pay the respect to Great Gurus, Sahibzades and to resolve to the task of nation-building.
