Srinagar- ‘There is no shortcut to success’, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said on Wednesday, urging people to exercise caution and think twice before falling for con artists, who he said, deceives people by luring them with tempting schemes.
The Div Com Kashmir however said the police and security agencies were activated as soon as the multi-crore investment scam surfaced in the valley. He said those who had been tricked would soon have their money back.
“I find it surprising that people are so easily tricked; con artists prey on naïve individuals by luring them with enticing schemes, and one must exercise extreme caution to fall victim to their evil plans. Our police and security agencies are actively investigating the matter, which came to our notice yesterday only. All available technical resources are being used in this direction,” Div Com Kashmir told reporters on the sidelines of a function at SKICC here.
Many naïve people, he claimed, have already fallen for similar con artists who offer to double their money in fifteen days, and they should think twice before falling for such tricks.
The fraudsters, according to the Div Com, lure unsuspecting people with tempting schemes before siphoning off millions of rupees.
“This incident should serve as an eye opener for all of us. The matter is being investigated as of now and we try our best for the law to prevail and those duped have their money back,” he added.
Replying to a query about frauds of this nature have begun in Srinagar as well, while the scheme was promoted by some social media influencers, he said the investigation is on and the facts will come to fore once investigation is completed.
Prevention, Bidhuri said, is better than falling prey to the evil plans of scammers, who he said, entice people by luring them with enticing schemes only to grab their hard-earned money.
“It’s best that we exercise caution since con artists are constantly looking for unsuspecting victims to fall prey to their evil plans. To prevent falling for such frauds, awareness is essential,” he added.
