Udhampur- The Union Territory Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that the socio-economic empowerment of the poor, women, farmers and marginalized sections of the society is essential to realize the goal of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Jammu Kashmir.
“Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is a resolve and guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill the dreams of common man. It has a pivotal role in bringing transformation in the lives of people by ensuring that all the benefits reach citizens and to bring holistic, inclusive development in rural and urban areas,” the LG said.
Sinha, who joined the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Ballian Panchayat here on Wednesday, congratulated the people of J&K for overwhelming participation in the Yatra which aims to saturate government flagship schemes.
He said the socio-economic empowerment of the poor, women, farmers and marginalized sections of the society is essential to realize the goal of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Jammu Kashmir.
The LG called upon the elected representatives and political leaders for active participation to achieve saturation of government schemes and generate awareness among the people.
“Healthy competition among the districts must be ensured to make J&K a top performer in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programme,” he said.
He emphasized on increasing the female literacy rate and ensuring that no child is deprived of education.
“Every girl child deserves a good education and it should be the paramount goal of the community in Panchayats. Administration’s mission is to ensure primary school in every panchayat for quality education,” Sinha added.
The LG also shared the efforts of his administration to increase the input credit to farmers, and providing 5 marla land to poor landless beneficiaries under PMAY including eligible members of Gujjar Bakerwal community.
Responding to the demands projected by PRI members, the LG assured that the issue of drinking water supply in Udhampur city will be redressed soon. He also directed Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to address the issues pertaining to Udhampur Master Plan at the earliest. Sinha asked the District Administration and the PRI members for identification of eligible beneficiaries from Udhampur for the Mega camp of the Social Welfare department to be held at Jammu.
Manmohan Raina, Sarpanch Panchayat Ballian and beneficiaries from the Panchayat also shared their experiences and success stories.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Wednesday called upon the educational institutions and the teaching community to reinforce the ideals of nation building and transform the youth into the ambassadors of a progressive India.
“Education nurtures future leaders. They are symbols of ambitious India, determined to create a knowledge society and advance India’s economic prowess in the world,” Sinha said.
He was addressing students and teachers on the Annual Day celebration of Sainik School, Nagrota, here on Wednesday.
“Sainik School Nagrota has always lived up to its motto of “Gyan, Veerta aur Anushasan” – Knowledge, Bravery and Discipline and its alumni are rendering distinguished service to the nation in various other sectors,” he said.
The LG called upon the educational institutions, teaching community to reinforce the ideals of nation building and transform the youth into the ambassadors of a progressive India.
“We have to ensure that our education system strengthens the culture and ethos and is empowered to create a strong, prosperous and Viksit Bharat,” he said, while advising students to focus on life skills, find their inner voice, learn through own experiences and collaborations.
“Discipline, strong character and self-confidence to overcome challenges will guide you towards a glorious future,” Sinha added.
The LG reiterated the commitment of his administration to provide necessary support to the Sainik School. He also extended his felicitations to the Cadets of Sainik School Nagrota who excelled in the prestigious NDA examination.
On the occasion, the LG handed over the 32 seater school bus costing Rs 21.38 lakh, sponsored by the UT Administration, to the officials of the Sainik School. Besides, he also inaugurated the Arts and Science Exhibition and visited the School’s IT Computer Lab and Atal Tinkering Lab.
Earlier, the LG received the ceremonial Guard of honor from the students and presented the academic awards to meritorious cadets.
