Srinagar- The government on Wednesday said the critical flyovers at Bemina and Sanat Nagar in Srinagar will be dedicated to the people in March next year, saying that the work on the projects is in full swing.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, said there has been substantial progress in the construction work of vital flyovers at Bemina, Sanat Nagar and Batingo Crossing (Bijbehara) and all are near completion.
The soil work on Batingo crossing, Div Com said is going on in full swing. “Although the project has missed the deadline due to some issues, which have now been resolved, the work is going on in a pace and will be completed by December 31,” he said, adding the two-way traffic will ply on the crossing soon.
These infrastructural projects are poised to significantly enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the respective areas, he said while emphasizing the paramount importance of the Batingo Crossing, highlighting the ongoing extensive work at the location that is swiftly advancing.
Regarding Bemina and Sanat Nagar flyovers, the Div Com announced a significant milestone. “The implementation of these flyovers aligns with the administration’s objective to enhance the region’s infrastructure and provide a seamless commuting experience for residents and commuters alike. We are expecting to dedicate the flyover to people by March next year,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri also chaired a meeting of PW R&B to review progress of removing bottlenecks from major roads in North Circle, Srinagar through land acquisition and dismantling of structures.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Srinagar, SE PW R&B, Collector PW R&B, Executive Engineer, Tehsildar and other officers.
The Div Com reviewed the physical status of Syed Mirak Shah Road, Khanyar Zadibal Pandach (KZP) Road and Circular Road Project.
Regarding Syed Mirak Shah Road, it was informed that out of 332 structures 179 were acquired and settled, and out of 145 Kanals of land 28.77 were acquired. Also, out of 750 shops 302 cases were settled.
Similarly regarding KZP Road, it was given that out of 368 cases of structures 102 were settled. And out of 118.19 Kanals of land the cases of 19.50 have been settled while out of 750 shops 144 have been acquired.
Also, regarding Circular Road, it was stated that out of 1238 cases of structures 802 were settled and out of 242.5 Kanals, 150 have been acquired besides out of 824 shops the cases of 339 have been settled.
Addressing the officers, Div Com directed the concerned to ensure wide open roads in the city by removing the structures at bottlenecks.
He instructed the concerned to identify the structures which are necessarily to be removed to widen the roads and submit the report within seven days.
Div Com instructed to handover the shops being constructed at Rainawari to the relocated shopkeepers at the earliest.
He also passed directions to NPCC for repairing the boundary wall at LD hospital
Water Transport To Be Additional Mode Of Public Transport
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri also chaired a meeting to review the Selection of the Agency for operations of Water Transport Services in River Jhelum Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The Water Transport is a flagship project of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) which aims to revive the water-based public transport system in Srinagar City.
Speaking on the occasion, Div Com directed SSCL to expedite the RFP preparation focusing on the lines of the eBus contract model.
He emphasized on the need for a water transport system as an additional mode of transport.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir also directed SSCL to finalize the routes and fare structure and call for tenders expeditiously.
He said that water transport will bring vibrancy to water bodies and become a new attraction for locals and tourists.
The meeting was attended by Members, Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority, Commissioner/ CEO SSCL, ACEO SSCL, General Manager, Planning SSCL, Chief Engineer, SSCL and a team of consultants.
