Srinagar- The meteorological department on Friday forecast mainly dry and sunny weather till December 10 in Kashmir with overcast sky likely to persist during the period.
Except for the fog, which is expected to return after the 7th of this month, the weatherman said there wouldn’t be any significant weather activity during the first ten days of December in Kashmir.
He said the famous tourist destination Sonmarg in central Kashmir received light snowfall, while light to moderate rainfall was witnessed in south Kashmir.
“The weather is predicted to be mostly bright and dry from December 2 to December 10. However, the foggy conditions may prevail after December 7th,” Director Meteorological Department Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Observer, adding there won’t be any significant weather activity in the valley till December 10.
Minimum temperature, he said, would gradually improve during this time, although it will probably be chilly in the mornings and evenings.
The daytime temperature, Dr Mukhtar said, is expected to rise till December 10 in Kashmir.
“No rainfall or snowfall is predicted anywhere in Kashmir till December 10 as the weather is likely to remain dry. However the foggy conditions as I said reappear in the morning hours, while sky may be occasionally overcast,” Director Metrology said.
He said the weather in central Kashmir areas improved on Friday afternoon after daylong sporadic rains, and that a major improvement is predicted from Saturday, December 2.
“The minimum temperature is expected to improve in the valley from December 2 onwards, while daytime temperature is likely to rise,” he added.
