Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers, including a woman in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The arrests were made by the cops from police station Sheeri after establishing a checkpoint at Kitchama near the service station, a police spokesperson said. The trio, including a woman, were coming towards Kitchama on a scooty (JK05-0116) when the cops intercepted them.
During the search, the spokesperson said, 776 grams of heroin like contraband substance was recovered from their possession.
He identified the accused as Riyaz Ahmad Ganie and Shokeen Ahmad both residents of Batangi Boniyar and Saleema Begum of Mirher Sheeri.
“They have been arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has been seized,” the spokesperson said.
Accordingly, he said, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri and investigation has been initiated.
