Srinagar– Police on Wednesday arrested a cab driver after he mowed down a special police officer (SPO) at a checkpoint in Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat of Aishmuqam was arrested after his taxi (JK012- 1976) hit and critically injured SPO Mohammad Maqbool Ganie near a checkpoint in Bumzoo village of Mattan on Wednesday evening. The critically injured SPO was immediately taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment. However, the doctors there declared him dead.
“The accused driver has been arrested and his vehicle seized”, a police official said. (KS)
