SRINAGAR- J&K was crowned as the overall champion in the 11th National Pencak Silat Championships for Pre Teen, Sub Junior and Junior (Boys and Girls) at Patli Putra Stadium in Patna, Bihar.
The 2023 edition of the Pre Teen Sub Junior and Junior Pencak Silat Nationals was held from November 23rd to 26th with participation from 34 States and Union Territories in both boys and girls categories. Over 1400 players took part in the mega tournament with high fervour.
Players who performed well were taken under the radar for the Indian national camps for the 5th Junior World and 20th Senior World Pencak Silat Championship 2023 which will be held at Singapore later in January 2024.
J&K teams emerged overall champions/winners, with Gold: 27 , Silver: 22 , Bronze: 28 medals. Haryana emerged as the runners up overall, with Gold : 25 , Silver. : 14 , Bronze : 20
Delhi and Uttarakhand stood on the 3rd place in the total medal tally.
Sports minister Bihar, Jitendra Kumar Rai, was the chief guest, while Director General (Sports) Ravindran Shankaran ( IPS), Pankaj Raj Director cum Secretary Bihar State Sports Authority, were guest of Honor and distribution of medals was made by the chief guest.
Rajeshwar Raj, President Pencak Silat Association of Bihar, Gautam Pratap Singh, General Secretary Pencak Silat Association of Bihar, Kishor Prakash Yewale, President, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, Secretary General Mohammad Iqbal, Coach Team India, Irfan Aziz Botta, CEO Indian Pencak Silat Federation and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
The championship was organised by Pencak Silat Association of Bihar under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and under the banner of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India and Sports Authority of India.
