AWANTIPORA– The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, Islamic University of Science & Technology organised a Para Athletic Meet at the university’s track field on Tuesday. The meet was presided over by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST.
The event, held at IUST’s Synthetic Athletic Track showcased remarkable abilities and talents of para-athletes from across the valley.
The Para Athletic Meet, featured a diverse range of events including wheelchair racing, shot put, long jump, and Relay Races; and was aimed at promoting inclusivity and fostering a spirit of athleticism among specially-abled individuals, the university said in a press release.
Prof. Romshoo, commended the Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, IUST for organising the event and appreciated the participants for their commitment and resilience.
Prof Naseer Iqbal (Registrar IUST), Mr Samir Wazir (Finance Officer and Chairman Sports Committee IUST), Dr Waseem Bari (Controller of Examination), Prof. Masooda Yaseen (Honorary Secretary Voluntary Medicare Society), and Dr Bashir Ahmed Lone among others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Dr Hilal Ahmad Rather, Assistant Director Physical Education & Sports, welcomed the guests and thanked the organising committee for successful conduct of the event.
