Srinagar- Five unidentified terrorists were killed by security forces in a joint operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil Sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said Thursday.
The joint anti-terror operation, a police spokesperson said, was launched during the intervening night of October 25-26th at Sardari Nar area along the LoC in Machil Sector on the basis of an intelligence input generated by police.
Besides, he said, multiple ambushes were laid by the joint teams of police and army’s 56RR along the LoC.
“Today, the joint team observed movement of terrorists in the thick dense forests of the area who took advantage of difficult terrain infiltrated to our side. Employing meticulous tactics, the terrorists were intercepted who fired indiscriminately upon the joint team,” the spokesperson said.
He said that fire was retaliated, leading to the elimination of five unidentified terrorists of LeT.
“The identification of the killed terrorists is being ascertained. Huge cache of arms & ammunition, including five (05) AK rifles & other incriminating materials have been recovered from the site of encounter,” he added.
The spokesperson said all the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation. He said extensive search of the area is being carried out and further details, if any will be shared accordingly.
“In this regard, Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been initiated,” he added.
According to the spokesperson, ADGP Kashmir has appreciated the role of Kupwara Police for generating the actionable input & the role of joint forces for swiftly tracking & neutralizing the infiltrating terrorists to defeat the nefarious designs of inimical elements who are hellbent to disrupt peace and harmony in the valley.
