Srinagar- Dead body of a woman was found under mysterious circumstances in the Bemina area of Srinagar here this morning, officials said.
A woman identified as Tanveera wife of Showkat Ahmad Kaloo, a resident of Nundreshi Colony Bemina was found under mysterious circumstances at Durbal area.
A police official said the dead body was found by some locals at Drurbal area, who promptly alerted the police that took the dead body into its possession.
The body, he said, was shifted to the hospital for medico-legal procedures and later handed over to the family for last rites.
However, the family of the deceased woman has appealed to police to initiate an inquiry into the mysterious death of their daughter. They alleged that their daughter had been murdered and not died of natural causes.
“We demand a thorough probe into the mysterious death of our daughter. We are sure that she has not died of natural causes but was murdered in cold-blood. We appeal to the police to initiate an inquiry into the mysterious death of our daughter so the facts come to fore,” a relative of the deceased woman told reporters at their residence.
A police official said the police have already taken cognizance of the issue and investigation has been taken up in this direction.
