Budgam- The annual Urs of Sheikh Noor-u-Din Noorani (RA), popularly known as Sheikh-ul-Alam and Alamdar-e-Kashmir, was observed at Chrar-e-Sharief in Budgam district on Friday with religious fervour.
The patron saint of Kashmir, is highly revered by both Muslims and Hindus.
Thousands of devotees from across Kashmir valley thronged the Chrar-e-Sharief shrine where special prayers were held.
On the occasion, the religious scholars threw light on his life, religious services and teachings. saint had devoted his entire life to preaching the pristine form of Islam.
The devotees were seen reciting Darood and Naats. Special prayers were held for the peace and prosperity of J&K.
Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Darakshan Andrabi visited shrine and took stock of arrangements.
She said that the JK Waqf board has done a commendable job since its formation and there is more to do for development of these shrines.
