Srinagar- Two days ahead of President Draupadi Murmu’s first visit to Srinagar, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Monday directed security forces to carry out night domination, create random checkpoints, besides conducting joint patrolling to keep an eye on movement of anti-nationals.
Chairing a joint meeting of senior officers of Police, CRPF, Army and intelligence agencies at the Police Control Room here on Monday, Singh also stressed for optimum use of resources and utilization of technology & security gadgets including CCTV cameras as part of deployment, a police spokesperson said Monday.
President Murmu will be on maiden visit to Kashmir on October 11. She will be the chief guest at the 20th convocation of Kashmir University. Over 400 students will receive gold medals and MPhil and PhD degrees during the event.
In the high-level meeting, the spokesperson said, security arrangements put in place for the President’s visit including detailed deployment enroute and in & around the venues were deliberated upon.
He said deployment of man-power from different forces and intelligence agencies and coordination aspects were also discussed in the meeting.
DGP, the spokesperson said, also took a review of the overall security scenario of the Kashmir Zone.
Stressing for optimum synergy among different agencies and forces, being deployed for the security of VVIP, Singh, he said, directed the officers that proper briefings should be ensured to all the personnel deployed.
“He also emphasised on patrolling and night domination. He stressed on maintaining alertness for which he advised a system of the random ‘nakas’ and joint patrolling to be put in place to check the movement of anti-national elements especially on inter-district routes and in the periphery of Srinagar city,” he said.
DGP, the spokesperson said, emphasized upon the officers to keep an eye on the activities of suspicious elements and enjoined upon intel agencies to share any intelligence on a real time basis.
“DGP stressed for optimum use of resources and utilization of technology & security gadgets including CCTV cameras as part of deployment. He said that a comprehensive communication network must be ensured to coordinate among the agencies involved in the security arrangements,” he said.
Singh, he said, also discussed the traffic arrangements and directed for taking all necessary measures while keeping in mind that commuters do not face unnecessary hindrances due to security restrictions.
The officer, he said, briefed DGP about the security arrangements put in place in connection with the VVIP visit. They also apprised him in detail about the security measures being taken in their respective jurisdictional areas.

P. Singh, Joint Director Hqrs SSF Mushtaq Ahmad & SP Telecom Srinagar Fayaz Yaseen attended the meeting.
LG Chairs Meet To Reviews Preparations
Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements ahead of the visit of President of India, Draupadi Murmu to the UT of Jammu Kashmir.
The LG appraised the preparations for the convocation of the University of Kashmir to be graced by the President, an official spokesperson said.
Sinha, he said, also reviewed the security arrangements and directed for implementation of a meticulous traffic plan in view of the President’s visit.
The meeting was attending by Vijay Kumar, ADGP Kashmir; Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Sujit Kumar, DIG CKR Srinagar; Athar Amir Khan, Commissioner SMC; Mohammad Aijaz, DC Srinagar; Rakesh Balwal, SSP Srinagar and senior officers.
