Srinagar- At least 30 wooden residential sheds were damaged as a result of a massive blaze that broke out at Parimpora area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.
The fire incident, officials said was reported around 4:15 am at Parimpora area on the city outskirts, following which a massive firefighting operation was launched by the department of Fire and Emergency Service in the area.
He said the firefighting operation was launched after the Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar received a distress call with regard to the incident in which 30 wooden residential sheds were completely destroyed.
“A distress call with regard to the fire incident was made to PCR Srinagar following which men and machinery were rushed to the spot to douse off the flames. The incident occurred around 4:45 this morning. The prompt action by the fire and emergency service staff prevented the blaze from engulfing other nearby structures. However 30 residential sheds were destroyed in the tragic incident,” a senior F&ES official told Kashmir Observer.
He said that police have taken cognizance of the incident and set investigation into motion to ascertain the cause of fire.
