ANANTNAG- The Under-17 Boys Provincial Level Inter District Cricket Tournament, organised by Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir, reached it final stages on Thursday in Anantnag. The matches are being played on turf wicket venues across the district.
In the matches played on the Thursday, Pulwama and Bandipora locked horns in the final league match of the tournament. Pulwama scored 115 runs in allotted overs after winning the toss. Aasif Ali scored 40 of 30 balls and Junaid Ahmad from Bandipora clinched 4 wickets. Chasing the target, Bandipora made it through with 3 wickets left, with Faizan Bashir top scoring 29 runs in 15 deliveries. However Aasif Ali claimed 3 wickets was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
In the semifinal match, hosts Anantnag played neighboring Kulgam. Winning the toss, Anantnag fielded first and restricted the visiting team to 103 runs, after a superb bowling spell by Solib who took 4 wickets. Wasif Reyaz scored 44 runs in 28 deliveries for Kulgam. Chasing the target, Anantnag lost the game by 15 runs as Kulgam’s Basit took 3 wickets. Basit was also declared man of the match for his all-round performance including 11 runs and 3 wickets.
In the other semifinal, Baramulla took on Budgam. Baramulla set a target of 127 runs with a brilliant knock of 48 runs from Ayan Tariq. Chasing the target, Budgam fell short by 24 runs. Umer Ashraf from Baramulla was declared man of the match for his magical spell of 3 overs and 3 wickets.
