Srinagar- Police on Monday claimed to have solved last week’s hit and run case in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district by arresting the accused person involved in the crime.
Four members of a family, including a couple and their daughter were killed on Friday last in a horrific road accident along the Srinagar- Jammu highway in Qazigund area of Kulgam district. Following the accident, police filed a case FIR No. 206/2023 in Police Station Qazigund and started investigation.
In a statement issued Monday, a police spokesperson said that during the course of investigation, a team led by SHO Police Station Qazigund relentlessly made all efforts and collected evidence from CCTV, Toll Plazas, Telecom and other useful applications/services to identify the accused.
After strenuous efforts, he said, the accused driver Aarif Ahmad Ellahi of Nowgam Verinag was arrested.
“The police team also recovered the involved vehicle (Truck) bearing registration number JK22-7103. Further investigation in the case is going on,” the spokesperson said.
