Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory (UT) is moving towards digital revolution from the past four years with the introduction of e-service for the public good.
The UT is witnessing less footfall of people in government offices and other institutions, the corruption is reducing and all the services are made available on the fingertips of the people ever since the government launched the “digital revolution” by making all the services online.
The remarkable transformation in the region’s digital scenario is being applauded and appreciated by the public who maintained that by embracing technology, the government revolutionized governance and empowered citizens with seamless access to services and resources.
“This is indeed a wind of change. I had to apply for a domicile certificate for my family and managed to do it within a week with just a click of a button,” said Abdul Rashid, a resident of HMT Srinagar.
Rashid further said he also availed the documents of land records online. “Otherwise, it wasn’t possible earlier and you had to make a dozen rounds to the Tehsil office,” he added.
From licensing of manufacturing establishments for drugs, cosmetics and blood centres, perform basic banking transactions viz cash withdrawal, Intrabank/ interbank money transfer, balance enquiry, post matric scholarship to Pahari speaking students, the citizens can available all the services online
The users can register using this service to apply for various e-Services applications such as Domicile Certificate, MUMKIN Scheme Commercial water connection etc. The citizen can apply for the various services provided by the Government.
Making the services face-less and paperless, the government of J&K launched Mobile Dost App bringing a new era in mobile governance.
With J&K moving towards digital revolution and in order to make digital transactions available to citizens, the government introduced DigiPay AePs (Aadhaar enabled payment system) which empowers a common citizen to use Aadhaar as his/her identity to access his/her respective bank account.
An official from Divisional administration told Kashmir Observer that with the implementation of e-Office in Jammu & Kashmir, file disposal rate has been brought down to 97 percent. “It’s a step towards easy digital governance,” he said.
Under the eUNNAT application the citizens of UT can access various services provided by the Government. It provides end-to-end integrated solutions to various services which can be availed through eUNNAT Application. Online verification of various certificates issued by various Departments is also available through e-Services.
Under e-UNNAT, 445 services of various departments have been integrated with this portal.
The official said more than 480 government offices are now connected with e-Office to have governance via paperless office management.
Notably, the UT has overtaken Madhya Pradesh to clinch top spot in the country by reaching 1016 citizen-centric services being provided in online mode to the people of the Union Territory.
Under the Digital J&K programme launched in mission mode last year, the number of online services has increased exponentially from 174 services in July, 2022 to 1016 services as on date with nearly 500 percent increase in just one year.
Pertinent to mention the UT is celebrating Digital Week that is scheduled to take place from August 31st to September 6th, 2023.
This event, being observed across Jammu and Kashmir, aims to raise awareness about the various services available online to the public. The government is gearing up to organize a digital mela in every district of the valley for which preparations are going on. The Digital Week celebration, according to the government, will offer an opportunity to educate citizens about the various online services available, such as “Aap Ki Zameen Aap Ki Nigrani,” “e-UNNAT,” and “DigiLocker.”
