Even as the grand success of Chandrayaan-3’s launch continues to reverberate and vibe the entire nation, the ISRO has swiveled its gaze at the sun, as it will launch Aditya L-1, the country’s first space-based observatory, on Sept. 2. Like Chandrayaan-3, the Aditya-L1 mission is yet another bold venture by ISRO to stamp its mark in history, as it will mark a pioneering stride for India into the domain of space-based missions. It is said the major advantage of this celestial arrangement is that Aditya-L1, named after Sanskrit term, meaning ‘Sun God’, will enable an uninterrupted view of our life-star, free from any veils of occultation or eclipses, thereby maintaining a real-time vigilance over solar activities and their intricacies. No doubt, similar to Chandrayaan-3’s triumphant launch, Aditya-L1 mission launch will ignite a renewed wave of excitement across the country. This adventurous enterprise has the potential not only to unravel the mysteries concealed within the sun’s fiery grasp, but also to redefine our understanding of the cosmos at large. Said Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to enter space, “There is hardly a facet of an Indian citizen that has not been touched by ISRO’s technology.”
