Srinagar: Idara Falah-e-Aam Trust elected its new managing body with Er Munshi Abrar Hussain as chairman and journalist Imdad Saqi as general secretary.
The elections held on Sunday saw a triangular contest for the post of Chairman. Munshi Abrar emerged triumphant, securing an emphatic victory with 141-vote share against 116 polled by Syed Kifayat Rizvi.
“Abrar Hussain’s election underscores his widespread popularity and the faith that the community has reposed in him”, said a member while declaring the results.
There were two candidates in the fray for the post of general secretary. Senior journalist Imdad Saqi secured 139 votes while his nearest rival Ahmad Ali Bhat received 113 votes.
Members also elected seven trustees during the elections. They include Raja Anees Ali Khan, Muhammad Maqbool Wani, Syed Javeed Mousavi, Muzaffer Sadiq Wani, Abdul Rashid Mugloo, Syed Muhammad Yaseen and Nazar Mohmmad Khan.
The newly elected chairman later expressed profound gratitude to the members for their overwhelming support. He pledged unwavering dedication to advancing the organization’s mission and objectives. “I am deeply honored to have been chosen as the Chairman of Idara Fallah-e-Aam Waqf”, he said.
In his remarks, Imdad Saqi said, as General Secretary, I will work diligently to enhance communication, transparency, and efficiency within our organization.
