Srinagar- The former Congress president and Member Parliament Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Srinagar on Friday for a private visit.
Rahul will reach the tourist resort of Sonamarg around 3:30 pm on Friday and will be received by the leaders of J&K Congress unit, a senior party leader told Kashmir Observer Thursday.
From Sonamarg, he said, the Gandhi scion he will head straight to Nigeen Lake in Srinagar, where he will stay at a houseboat. His mother Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra are also expected to join him.
“Some Congress leaders left for Sonamarg on Thursday night to give Rahul Gandhi a warm welcome. By Friday evening, he will be in Srinagar,” the Cong leader said.
For the next two days, he said, Rahul will visit many places in Srinagar, including the Old City and will also meet public delegations.
Unconfirmed reports said that Rahul will stay at a hotel in Rainawari area here, after checking out from the houseboat.
Pertinently, Rahul started his trip on August 17 initially for two days. He later extended his trip in the cold desert.
