Srinagar- Special prayers were held on Wednesday at the revered Hazratbal shrine, here for the successful landing of Chandrayan-3 on the moon’s South Pole.
The special prayers, officials said, were organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board at Hazratbal shrine, housing the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh).
The prayers were held after Zuhr (noon) prayers at Hazratbal shrine with Muslim worshippers raising their hands, beseeching for India to achieve the milestone of becoming the 4th nation in the world to land on moon and also the first to land on the moon’s south pole, Waqf officials said.
They said that hundreds of worshippers converged at the shrine to offer special prayers for successful landing on Chandrayaan-3
“Special prayers were organized on the instructions of Wakf Board Chairperson, Dr Darakshan Andrabi in which hundreds of worshippers participated and prayed for the country to accomplish such a feat,” they said.
They said the Imam of the shrine besides praying for the successful landing of Chandrayan-3, also highlighted the significance of the mission.
Meanwhile, hundreds of passerby watched Chandrayan-3 live broadcast at City Square Lal Chowk on a big screen here on Wednesday afternoon.
As soon as the Chandrayan-3 safely touched down on the moon, the entire area echoed with cheers and whistles, with people hailing the uphill efforts of scientists for making India accomplish a milestone.
“I am so excited and at the same time happy to see India becoming the 4th nation in the world to land on the moon. All credit goes to our scientists whose hard work made India achieve the feat,” Mansi, a tourist from Mangalore said.
