With the BRICS summit approaching, scheduled for August 22-24, many political forces both outside and inside the member countries are trying to sow discord or, at least, create the appearance of strained relations between the members of the club. It is no coincidence that every day there is more and more news about the alleged rivalry between India and China or about Delhi’s opposition to the idea of expanding the BRICS. Despite the fact that governments of states conduct an honest dialogue with their citizens and quickly refute all such attacks, it should be understood that in the coming weeks there will be much more informational stuffing, since their main goal is to complicate the upcoming summit.
Attempts to quarrel with the members of the association are explained by the fact that not all players on the world stage like the neighborhood with the BRICS. In addition to the fact that the club has a huge economic and political potential, and recently it has also become the main symbol of the global de-dollarization movement, which can lead to a revision of the whole old financial system.
However, despite all the attempts of interested parties to put a spoke in the wheels of the club and discredit its members, participation in the BRICS outweighs any accusations and brings tangible benefits to India. In particular, our government recently announced that more than 20 countries have already opened special bank accounts for trade with India in rupees. There is no doubt that the number of countries ready to leave the dollar in mutual settlements will continue to grow, which will provide the rupee with the opportunity to become a new international currency and further strengthen the position of our country in the international arena.
