Srinagar- Condolences continue to pour in for the second consecutive day Thursday over the death of Syed Abdul Rashid Shah retired Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and father of Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Secretary Tourism and Culture, who passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday.
The Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir has condoled with Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah over the demise of his father. In this regard a condolence meeting was held here at Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar in which officers and officials of the Tourism Department, Tourism Development Authorities, J&K Cable Car Corporation and other allied Departments participated.
Addressing the meeting, Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the bereaved. He said all the members of line departments stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
The meeting prayed for peace to the departed soul and courage and forbearance for the bereaved.
Similar condolence meetings were held at the Department of Culture and Archives at Civil Secretariat Srinagar and Jammu besides Directorate of Tourism, Jammu.
Speakers at these meetings conveyed their sympathies with Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Two minutes of silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul. The meetings also prayed for courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) Chairman, Nageen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) President Manzoor Wangnoo also expressed his profound grief and condolences on the sad demise of the father of Secretary Tourism.
He said that along with him the entire NTTA and NLCO members, offers their sincere sympathies to Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, IAS and his family during this difficult time.
“Today, we mourn the loss of a distinguished environmentalist and a compassionate soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, IAS and his family as they navigate through this period of sorrow. May the departed soul find eternal peace in Jannah,” he said.
The SKICC employees also held a condolence meeting to extend heartfelt condolences to Secretary Tourism and culture. The employees prayed for heavenly abode to the departed soul and patience to bereaved.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice-President Omar Abdullah on Thursday visited the residence of Secretary Tourism, J&K Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah and expressed sympathies with him on the passing away of his revered father.
Joined in by the party functionaries, he offered Fatiha for the departed soul and prayed for strength to the bereaved household.
Those who accompanied him on the visit include party Treasurer Shami Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Political Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri.
