Srinagar- KVK Srinagar organized an awareness programme on Importance of Balanced Diet for School Children at Primary School Checki Nadirgund Batamaloo on Monday.
The programme witnessed a gathering of scientists from the KVK, teachers and school children. Dr Malik Raies after presenting the formal welcome address, gave an overview of the programme and highlighted the importance of having a balanced diet and inclusion of millets to make it a square meal. Children shall be free from any kind of malnutrition which otherwise may have an adverse impact into their lives.
Dr. Saima Paul, Scientist Home Science in her remarks laid stress on the balanced diet and its importance for school children, as it plays a crucial role in their overall growth, development, and academic performance. She enlightened the audience about a balanced diet that provides the necessary nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that are essential for various bodily functions.
Dr Aasima, Scientist Food technology highlighted the nutritional value of Millets with respect to essential dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals (iron, calcium, phosphorus), and antioxidants. She also made the audience aware that millets provide a well-rounded nutritional profile, contributing to overall health and well-being.
Dr. Rayees Ahmed Wani presented a gist of activities to ensure a healthy environment. At culminating of the programme School authorities appreciated the efforts put forth by the KVK scientists and requested for more such programs in future so that students may be benefited.
